Reducing Stress Through Laughter – Revisited
While you’re looking for things to laugh about, don’t forget to laugh at the things that are freaking you out. It may seem odd to laugh at your problems, but you do it all the time when OTHER people have them!
Think about sit-coms. Most episodes of any comedy have something to do with somebody’s plans going wrong, and we think it’s funny. Then it happens to us, and we think it’s the end of the world. When the cast of Seinfeld couldn’t find their car in the parkade, it was hilarious. When we can’t find our car(s) in the parkade, we get mad. The irony is that it’s funny on TV in part because we can relate to it. So why can’t we see it as funny when it’s happening to us? I don’t know.
Anyway… remember to laugh at your problems, at least after you’ve solved them. Cuz you can be sure other people are laughing at them!
And if you can’t find your car, use the panic button on the key fob, then follow the sound of the horn. Yes, it’s a little embarrassing and people WILL know you couldn’t find your car, but it beats walking around all day looking for it. And you can laugh about it later.
